What can I expect as a client?

You will receive services from an experienced and licensed clinician who genuinely cares about you, in a supportive, respectful, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to talk about whatever is on your mind.

Counseling appointments last 55-60 minutes (the intake appointment can sometimes last 75 minutes). Telehealth services are scheduled during afternoon and evening hours Monday through Saturday.

Getting Started

It begins with you calling 248-916-1827. If there is no answer, leave your name and phone number; most phone calls are returned within 1 business day. We will have a brief chat about why you are seeking counseling, I will answer your questions, we will discuss what the cost for the services would be, and (if you are ready) we will set up an initial appointment. Depending on availability and completion of the paperwork, it may be possible to schedule the first appointment for that week!

Before your first appointment, you will complete a simple “New Client Intake Packet” that will be e-mailed to you. All appointments are currently TELEHEALTH ONLY, which are very simple! Please see below.

Goals and Treatment Plan

It is important to have a direction in counseling. Services are driven by the goals and treatment plan, which can evolve over time as we explore various parts of your life and experiences. We will create this treatment plan together. Many clients start counseling without knowing what their goals are…that is absolutely ok! We’ll figure it out together.

Over time we will monitor your progress towards the goals and assess the effectiveness of the current plan.

Telehealth Appointments

Telehealth (video-chat) appointments are very simple. You do not need to download or install any extra programs/apps/software. You do not need to register for any new accounts. You DO need a phone/tablet/computer, working webcam and microphone, adequate internet connection, and an updated internet browser (like Firefox or Chrome).

Before your appointment, you will receive an e-mail with the link to the video chat. When it is time for our appointment, you will click the link, type in your name, and join the virtual “waiting room” until I initiate the video-chat.

Telehealth appointments are secure and HIPAA compliant.

Therapeutic Approach

The type of counseling I provide is client-(or person-) centered, strength-based, solutions-focused. I draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as well as Structural Therapy and Systems Theory. I utilize a variety of techniques and treatments based on the client’s needs, most frequently CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused CBT, and skill-building. Please see the About Me page for more information.
